About Lucy Rose

Lucy Rose is a painter based in Jindabyne, on the banks of the Snowy River in the heart of the Snowy Mountains. It's a landscape she knows intimately, and one that runs through everything she paints.

Working in oils on stretched canvas, Lucy captures the heritage and ongoing tradition of life in the High Country — the horses, the cattle, the stockmen, and the rugged mountain scenery that define this part of Australia. Her work moves between bold, expressive abstraction and richly textured landscape painting: snow-capped peaks rendered in vibrant blues, greens and earth tones; wild, gestural brushwork depicting horses, cattle and mountain figures; and moody, atmospheric scenes where mountains meet starry skies.

Whether she's painting a mustering scene, a lone horse, or an abstracted High Country vista, Lucy's work is driven by a deep affection for this landscape and the people and animals who've shaped its history — and continue to live it today.
